Urbanova Veža tower
ImageThe Urbanova Veža tower completes the majestic look of Dóm Sv. Alžbety (St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral) when looked at from the north. It was built in Gothic style at the turn of the 14th and 15th century. During the reconstruction, the tower gained some Renaissance and Baroque features. The Bell of St. Urban made in 1557, which weights over seven tons, was installed in the bell tower. At present, the bell is displayed in front of the cathedral. Valuable tombstones mostly from the 14th and 15th century have been embedded in the walls of the tower. The interior of the tower used to house a permanent exposition of the East Slovak Museum for a period of time.
