Buzica is a village on the Slovak-Hungarian border, on the borderline between the Košická Kotlina basin and the Bodvianska Vrchovina upland. In the past, the area was colonized by several different cultures. A Bronze-age sword has been found here, as well as evidence of Bükk culture and the Slavs. The first written record of Buzica comes from 1262. The culture of the village bears some German and Hungarian signs as well. Between 1938 and 1944 the village was a part of Hungary. The Hungarian nationality has been predominant here since the 14th century. The inhabitants went through harsh times during both World War I and World War II, when houses were destroyed and people killed. At present, more than 1100 inhabitants live here. The most dominant building in the village is the Roman-Catholic church built in 1797. It is also the most valuable historical building. The Evangelic church comes from 1805. The atmosphere of the village is also created by an old millhouse, however, it requires reconstruction. Public services are on a good level. A kindergarten, as well as a primary school can be found here. A large playground has been built near the school. Both healthcare services and sports facilities can be found in the village. A very nice recreational zone has been created around the local iodine spring. There are several active public service groups and societies in Buzica such as “Csemadok”. The local zither group is very unique . The children also enjoy being a part of the local folklore ensemble. Many cultural events take place at the local amphitheatre. One can’t imagine this place without white storks. Their nests can be found on many electricity poles right inside the village. Buzica has been included into the Údolie Kaňapty microregion. Cooperating with other villages, Buzica tries to achieve a sustained development of the whole area.
